Background

The company was founded and registered in 2006. We started with very little, human, material, and financial resources. We were however careful enough to start with people that already had a lot of experience working with granite. For the first 6 months, we operated from a residential plot at Ngwane Park, Manzini. The first few jobs we did took a while to bring into masterpieces. We needed to make a good name for ourselves, and through desperate determination, we succeeded. The company has carried the same spirit of excellence to date.

Although the team of had some experience in working with granite, more training was required to guarantee quality jobs and also minimize time taken to complete a project. The team took turns to train in South Africa. Every year, the company receives a summary of events that take place in international Stone Fairs from Europe. We have recently been offered a trip to Xiamen, China to attend The Annual Stone Fair. With such opportunities coming our way, we are very confident that the quality of our products will continue to get better.

The company has developed a relationship with South Africa’s largest granite and marble supplier. This has helped us small struggling company to what we are today.

Directors

The company is fully owned and directed by Mr. Themba Mahlalela and his wife Tenele. Themba holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce (B.Com) from UNISWA. Themba was introduced to the world of granite by a Swazi company that makes tombstones. He furthered his skills by visiting granite companies in South Africa, mainly Durban and Johannesburg.

During his training he was also involved in the designing of natural stone monuments (including [but not limited to] tombstones). Themba has worked as an Accountant for a few companies in Swaziland including the First National Bank.

Tenele holds a degree in Humanities acquired from the University of Swaziland. She is currently doing a diploma course in Financial and Business Management. She currently manages all financial transactions and staff related matters.

The company’s mail line of operation is the fabrication of stone products for use in the household, these include;

From time to time we do maintenance on granite which often requires re-cut and polish to accommodate new appliances such as bigger fridge units, newer water tap systems, etc.

Our work is being showcased at various major local resorts such as The Royal Villas, Pablos Restaurant, City Inn, Bethel Court, Mountain Inn, SNPF, Mavuso Sports Centre, and NG Holdings Offices, and in many commercial buildings countrywide. We are currently working with Architects International and Stonewood Creations to build the 56 luxurious Umdoni Estate houses. Most of our projects have been done for individuals on their private residences, including royalty.

What about the future

Our objectives are to maintain our lead in the industry, gain economies of scale which will in turn help us in achieving our dream of making granite the standard in all new Swazi homes. We further plan build up on our capacity to take major projects, increase our turnaround time, and to withstand any foreign competition. Of late, we have been offered opportunities to do projects in South Africa, Mozambique, and Lesotho. We are currently in the process of acquiring work permits in South Africa in order to carry through our operations outside of Swaziland.
